Earthquake Preparedness while at Office

Before

  • Be aware of possible earthquake event, it's known amplitude in your area.
  • Since most of the times you only have a few seconds to make a critical choice of the best possible location it is important to constantly run earthquake drills with your family as a part of your disaster plan.
  • Consider an earthquake insurance in order to damage or lost.
  • Be aware of possible earthquakes in the region you're visiting.

During

  • If possible try to get out of the building as fast as you can
  • In case you trapped stay in doorway or against an inside wall
  • Remember to stay away from any objects which could potentially fall (mirrors, lighting, bookshelves, furniture).
  • Once you're outside find an open area avoiding walls, utility lines and other objects.
  • If you're in a car stop the vehicle immediately and stay there until it's safe.

After

  • In case if you're still inside get out of the building immediately taking your evacuation kit with you. Building you're in can easily collapse after earthquake is over. Remember that there can be a second strike and it's much better option for you to meet it outside.
  • Once you're back to your place carefully inspect your home making sure that electrical and sewerage lines are fine. Pay special attention to any possible gas leaks. Mare sure not to use any flammable objects until you know for sure that gas lines are fine.
  • If you're smell a gas leak opens all windows immediately, get out of the house and contact your gas company.
  • Turn a radio on and follow the instructions.
