Preparing for a Tornado during Office hours

  • It won't be an exaggeration to say that your best chance of survival such powerful disaster as tornado is to be aware of the situation in your area and be warned in sufficient time by the local authorities. Thus if you live in a high risk area make sure to constantly watch news and keep communication tight.
  • The best place to wait over a tornado would certainly be a proper build survival room or especially modified basement. So if there is a strong chance of tornado appearance in your area you might want to consider construction of such shelter for your family. You can also use one of the tornado escape facilities already built in your area.
  • In case when there is no proper shelter available a large, multistory building without interior stairwells would most likely be the best option to wait a disaster over. In order to reach maximum protection gets to the lowest floor possible.
  • If you're in a living house don't forget that a center room or a bathroom is the most commonsense choice of the safest location. For when the entire foundation is reinforced by pipes it achieves an additional support giving you extra protection as well.

  • Make sure you know that waterspouts, tornadoes that form over water, generally pose additional problems. It's much more difficult in fact nearly impossible to find a shelter on open water. So first thing to do would be to get out of the water ASAP. However in case you can't do so it's recommended to avoid a tornado area by sailing at right angles to its trajectory.
